Some parents worry that by placing their baby to sleep on its back that they will develop a flat head (plagiocephaly). You should remember that placing a baby on its back to sleep is one of the most important steps you can take to reduce the risks of cot death.
If your baby starts to develop a flat spot on their head, you should remember that this is not damaging their brain. It is purely a cosmetic condition and as your baby grows their head will become rounder again. To help avoid a flat head from occurring you should ensure that your baby has plenty of supervised “playtime” on their tummy. For more information click here.
