Is it dangerous for our baby to sleep in our bed?

Yes. Recent research shows that the rate of death for small babies increases strongly if the baby shares a bed with one or more adults. In a four year study conducted by the Scottish Cot Death Trust, 68% of all cot deaths occurred when the baby was sleeping in bed with one or more adults.

The safest place for a baby to sleep is in his own cot or crib in a room shared by an adult – this includes daytime sleeps too. For more information about safe sleeping practices click here.
